Overview
HarborTide is designed to respect your privacy. We do not collect, store, sell, or share any personal information. There are no user accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking.
Location
If you use the Nearby feature, HarborTide asks to access your location while you use the app. Your approximate location is used only on your device to sort stations by distance and to select the closest one. It is never transmitted off your device and is never shared with us or anyone else. If you deny location access, the rest of the app works normally.
Network Requests
To show live tide, current, and weather data, HarborTide requests information for the station you are viewing from public providers — NOAA (tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov), the Canadian Hydrographic Service (dfo-mpo.gc.ca), and tide-forecast.com. These requests contain only the station's public identifier and standard request metadata (such as your IP address, which is inherent to any internet connection). They do not include your identity or your device's location.
Data Stored on Your Device
Your favorites, recent stations, unit preference, tide alerts, and cached predictions are stored only on your device so the app works offline. This data never leaves your device and is removed if you delete the app. You can clear the cached predictions anytime from the app's Settings.
Children's Privacy
HarborTide does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the revised policy on this page.
